2014 Fall Ball Action

  • In the final action of the 2014 fall season, the team put together its best performance to date with an impressive offensive showing with 12 goals scored against DePaul and strong defense performance in holding DePaul to only 6 goals. DePaul plays in MCLA-2 and posted a 10-3 record in 2014, so this game provided the team with a good test. The offense started off slow in the first quarter as both teams were having trouble finding the back of the net, but the offense was able to find its groove in the second quarter with Mike Worthington and Jonny Glazier scoring some nasty goals. As the game moved into the final stages, the team pulled away from DePaul with sound fundamental defense and smart offensive decision-making. As the whistle blew and the game ended, the entire team rushed to congratulate our goalie Kenny after a dominant team performance that saw a victory by the score of 12-6. Now the team will head into the winter season where we will continue to work on stick skills and conditioning as we await the arrival of our spring season.

  • The team traveled almost 3 hours to Madison, Wisconsin to take on both Michigan State and Iowa. In the first game against Michigan State, the team picked up its game during the second quarter and eventually pulled away with a 6-2 win. The scoring was very balanced with six different players scoring goals. Also, the defense and goalie Josh Lee was able to shut down Michigan State's offense holding them to 2 goals and very few scoring chances. After winning in its debut, the team's next opponent was Iowa who was a good team. After a back and forth low scoring first half that saw plenty of up and down action, Iowa was able to capitalize on a few mistakes and take control of the game towards the end of the 3rd quarter. The team fought extremely hard to stay in the game and never gave up even through the fatigue of playing back-to-back games with a small roster. In the end, Iowa came away with the 7-2 victory. The entire team had a great time heading up to Madison and finally playing another team. The competition was great, as we continue to improve before the start of the spring season. We head back up to Wisconsin this upcoming weekend to take on Marquette, which is a really great team who we beat in last year's GLLL Championship to win the 3rd Place Game. This should provide us with another good test to see where are as a team.
